tvOS 27: Podcasts app redesigned, new features for Apple TV

tvOS 27 brings a redesigned Podcasts app and a set of new features to Apple TV, confirming the television platform was not forgotten in the keynote.

tvOS remains in the ecosystem

The WWDC 2026 keynote was dominated by Siri AI and iOS news, to the point where Engadget noted in its live blog that there was no explicitly dedicated moment for watchOS or tvOS. Yet tvOS 27 exists and brings at least one noteworthy update: the Podcasts app has been redesigned, as confirmed by ETV Bharat and the Engadget live blog.

Apple did not detail the specifics of the Podcasts redesign on tvOS during the keynote, but the move is consistent with the general refinement work that has affected the app on iOS and macOS in recent years. tvOS 27 also includes "several new features" not further specified in the keynote, which will likely be elaborated in developer sessions over the coming days.

Apple TV's role in the AI ecosystem

Apple TV is the device farthest from contextual Siri AI integration, for obvious reasons of use (shared screen, no camera, predominantly passive interaction). tvOS 27 adopts Liquid Glass and receives system improvements, but is not at the center of this WWDC's AI narrative. It remains a solid streaming device and HomeKit hub, but the feature gap relative to other Apple systems continues to widen.
