After the June 8 keynote, MacRumors published a dedicated article on the full list of Macs compatible with macOS Golden Gate. The main news is already known — no Intel Mac can install the new operating system — but the precise list of supported models only emerged the day after the keynote, when Apple updated its technical pages.
All Macs with Apple Silicon chips are compatible: MacBook Air with M1 or later, MacBook Pro with M1 or later, Mac mini with M1 or later, Mac Studio (all generations), Mac Pro with Apple Silicon (M2 Ultra onwards). Intel MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models from 2020 and earlier — including some relatively recent and capable machines like 2019 Intel MacBook Pros — are permanently excluded.
macOS Tahoe, released in fall 2025, is therefore the last operating system for Intel Macs: owners of these machines will no longer receive system updates after the current cycle.
