One more control inside conversations
Among the least highlighted announcements in the WWDC 2026 keynote is a practical addition for everyday iMessage users: iOS 27 adds a status slider within conversation threads. TechRadar flagged it as a detail that emerged during the rapid succession of announced features, without Apple dedicating explicit keynote time to it.
The feature appears to address the need to communicate one's availability status without leaving the conversation or resorting to Focus modes. No source has yet clarified whether the slider interacts with existing Focus modes or operates as an independent mechanism.
