Fewer forms, more text
Apple announced at WWDC 2026 an update that looks simple but addresses one of the most repetitive daily tasks: creating a calendar entry. In iOS 27, MacRumors confirms that the Calendar and Reminders apps accept natural language commands. Tapping the "+" button and typing something like "Movies with Sarah Thursday at 8pm" is enough — the system parses date, time, and title without requiring the user to navigate separate fields. Recurring events are also supported: typing "every week" sets up a repeating entry.
Reminders work the same way: a phrase like "Remind me to go grocery shopping at 2pm on Thursday" is parsed into a correctly dated and timed reminder. Engadget and The Shortcut confirm the integration, noting that Calendar also receives shortcuts from Messages when a conversation contains references to events or appointments.
Why it matters
Natural language calendar input is not new — Google Calendar has had it for years. But native integration into Apple's system apps, without needing to invoke Siri or a third-party tool, lowers the barrier for a broad audience. The real test will be parsing accuracy in Italian and other languages: Siri AI launches in English only.
