The cycle starts now
Immediately after the WWDC 2026 keynote concluded, Apple made developer betas available for all its next-generation operating systems: iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27. This is confirmed by MacRumors, Engadget, and Tom's Guide. The public beta will follow in July, according to the usual annual schedule, while the general release for all users is expected in fall — presumably coinciding with the iPhone 18 launch.
For developers, this is the critical window: the coming weeks will be used to update apps to support the new Siri AI APIs, the Apple Foundation Models framework, and the updated Liquid Glass guidelines. Apple announced over a hundred video sessions and group labs during WWDC week to accompany the transition.
A practical note: Apple operating system betas are never recommended on primary devices, especially in the first weeks. The volume of changes introduced in this generation — from the new Siri AI architecture to the search infrastructure overhaul — suggests a more turbulent beta cycle than usual.
