Call Context: Apple Intelligence knows what your ongoing call is about

With Call Context in iOS 27, Apple Intelligence surfaces contextually relevant information during a phone call — contact details, related emails or messages — without the user having to search manually. A silent assistant active while you talk.

What Call Context does

Apple announced Call Context as one of the Apple Intelligence features in iOS 27 shown during the WWDC 2026 keynote. The system analyses the ongoing call and device content to surface relevant information on screen: contact data, previous message or email conversations, details relevant to the call's context. All of this happens on-device, without audio being sent to remote servers, in line with Apple's declared privacy-first approach for Apple Intelligence.

The broader context: the phone that understands

Call Context is part of a broader update to the Phone app for iOS 27 that includes, among other things, real-time call transcription and the ability for Siri AI to interact with the content of the conversation. Tom's Guide describes this direction as part of Apple's effort to "handle phone calls" via AI, reducing the need to take notes or search for information while engaged in a conversation.

Why it matters

Call Context is a use case where AI adds measurable, non-intrusive value: it does not speak, does not interrupt, but surfaces on screen what would otherwise require leaving the call to search. The parallel with enterprise tools like Otter.ai or Microsoft Teams meeting assistants is direct — Apple brings it to the level of the native OS, making it available on any call, not just on video-conferencing platforms.
